Buying your first vape? Here's what you need to know

Many find vaping as a great alternative to smoking. However, as with most trends, vaping begs the question, “Is it safe or not?”

We’re here to tell you that despite the incredible amount of negative press about vaping,  there are also numerous reports saying that vaping is at least 95% less harmful than smoking. There is no risk of ‘second-hand’ vapor, and any article claiming otherwise doesn’t understand the industry at all.

People now realize that vaping regulations and commercial nicotine are not problems. Instead, the real cause of the problem comes from e-cigarette sellers who greedily claim that the e-liquid in vapes has THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

You can’t blame the lousy rap against vaping, though, because it’s true that some sellers do add Vitamin E acetate, which is harmful to human health when inhaled.

With all the fuss about the vaping industry and its effects, it’s essential to only purchase your vape supplies from a trusted source that offers high-quality vaping products. This way, you can lay off the cigarettes and still get your nicotine fix.

If you’re on the lookout for your first vape kit, here are a couple of factors that you need to consider.

First things first, What is a Vaporizer or e-cigarette?

The standard vaporizer has three core parts.

First, the atomizer. This is an umbrella term for the unit of vape parts that transforms the liquid vape juice into vapour.  It’s surrounded by a liquid containing nicotine. The atomizer then heats the liquid, and vapor is inhaled through the mouthpiece.

Secondly, the liquid. The liquid, also known as “vape juice”, is made up of vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol (both of which are considered safe by the FDA), natural, and artificial sweeteners (which can be found in just about any store that sells food).

The final part is the battery. This is what gives power and heat to the atomizer by delivering wattage and voltage.

Know the rules of engagement

You can’t just get your gun and fire up; that’s not how vaping works. You have to know where to light up and be conscious of your surroundings and the people you will be with before you take a puff.

You have to be mindful because although the Irish smoking ban does not cover vaping, some business owners and managers impose rules that disallow vaping. So, before you decide to take a nicotine break, always ask first if it’s okay to do so.

Meanwhile, open areas such as beaches, streets, parks, or smoking areas of cafes, are mostly open for vaping. Some eating and drinking establishments do allow vaping indoors, but you must tread carefully.

When in doubt, always ask the people around you if it’s okay to take a puff— whether you’re in Ireland or abroad.

The rules and regulations for e-smoking tend to be confusing and constantly change. . Sometimes, a  “no smoking” sign may not include e-smoking. And some people are still not convinced that vaping is not smoking, so in case of doubt, vaping is not smoking, just ask.

Vape Land Mines: Avoid "Vape" Battery Explosions

The worst thing that could happen to you is a vape explosion while using the device or pulling the device out of your pockets.

So if you’re a beginner and on the hunt for a quality vape, make sure to only source it from a trusted and quality e cig store, especially if you’re looking to buy vapes online. Also, listen to the seller’s instructions and ask questions before going home with your new vape device. Furthermore, make sure that you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for your new vape kit (a.k.a. Read the manual, even if you rarely do for your other gadgets).

Here are ten  tips for first-time users:

  1. Use vape devices with safety features such as firing button locks, vent holes, and protection against overcharging.

  2. Use battery cases to prevent contact with metal objects. Ever let the batteries rub against your coins, keys, or other metals in your pocket.

  1. Always use the charger that came with it.

  1. Never charge your vape device overnight or leave it charging unattended.

  1. Remove and replace the batteries if they get wet or damaged. If batteries are not replaceable, contact the seller and ask for recommendations.

  1. Learn how to pack your device and batteries safely for air travel:

  1. Only use batteries recommended for your device. Don't mix different brands of batteries.

  2. Charge your vape on a clean, flat surface, away from anything that can easily catch fire and someplace you can see it—not a couch or pillow where it is more prone to overheating or where it may turn on accidentally.

  1. Protect your vape from extreme temperatures by not leaving it in direct sunlight or in your car on a cold, freezing night.

  1. Don't remove or disable safety features—like fire button locks or vent holes. These are designed to prevent battery overheating and explosions.

In summary

Vaping is a great, and generally safer, alternative to the use of conventional cigarettes. And with the rise of many vapers, businesses who claim to know all about the vape industry may pop up. Before you know it, everybody’s jumping on the trend without enough knowledge to understand how vaping devices work and how to troubleshoot them.

That’s why if you’re thinking of vaping, ALWAYS go to a  trusted seller of high-quality vape products, like Vapro Vapes.
